silent echoes is an ongoing series of linoleum prints that captures fleeting impressions of the natural world surrounding the artist’s home. What began as a simple act of observation—drawing the plants in their space as a way to break through creative block—became a deeper exploration of presence, memory, and quiet resonance. These prints are not precise botanical studies but rather distilled forms, reduced to their essential shapes as if recalling the lingering imprint of a moment rather than its exact details.
This series offers a meditation on the act of looking, capturing not just what is seen but what is felt, honoring the quiet persistence of nature and the impressions it leaves behind. The deep cyan-grey, reminiscent of early dawn or twilight, reinforces this sense of transition, a space frozen in time and held tightly between presence and fading.

PROCESS & TECHNIQUES
Each work in this series is created using linoleum relief printing, a technique in which a design is hand-carved into a plate made out of linoleum material, delicately inked using a brayer (rubber roller), and transferred onto paper using a printing press designed for relief printing. The prints emphasize the balance between positive and negative space, reducing botanical forms to their essential shapes and contours while allowing the interplay of shadow and form to emerge naturally.
The process begins with observational drawings of plants and natural elements. These sketches are then simplified into graphic compositions that focus on shape and structure rather than fine details. Each linoleum plate is hand-carved, ensuring that every mark is intentional, embracing the slight variations that occur in the cutting process. Once the plate is complete, it is inked and printed onto Simili Japon paper, chosen for its smooth texture and ability to capture fine details with clarity.
Color plays a subtle but integral role in this series. All prints are made using a hand-mixed, muted blue-grey ink, inspired by the soft light of early evening or the quiet moments of dawn, evoking a sense of calm and introspection.
