This piece was one of the beginning stages and explorations of the current ongoing series titled, botanical shadows.

In this series i use observational drawings as a way of grounding and connecting myself to the process of creating and in that way moving away from the pressures and expectations of the outcome.

I wanted to translate these drawings and before I came across relief printing for these pieces I experimented with sewing as it offers a very meditative feeling through the making of stitch sewn.

I use my creative practice to take what I need at that time and create through that, always trying to create from a place of curiosity and inner drive rather than falling into mechanics. These botanical shadow pieces were born like that, over three years ago, I was facing a huge creative block and to overcome it, I started drawing simple lines of life around me. These drawings keep coming back into my practice to ground me in the process when I feel a little stuck or disconnected. They have now evolved from simple line drawings to something bolder, an ongoing collection of linocuts. I love watching this series slowly grow, as it is a constant reminder that I have control over my creative blocks and have grown and overcome them. They are also evidence of the beauty of the simple things around us on a daily basis, encouraging us to take a moment to stop and appreciate the beauty that is always present.
